If you have recently had laser skin rejuvenation with the Halo laser at Kirsch Dermatology, you may have many questions about post-procedure care. How do I keep my skin moisturized and hydrated after laser treatment? How do you sleep after the Halo laser treatment? How must I take care of my skin the days following my procedure? Our team at Kirsch Dermatology in Naples, Florida, can educate you on aftercare instructions to follow closely to reduce potential problems.
Laser rejuvenation treatments do not always provide same-day results. Instead, the changes happen over time, and patients need to understand the process and how to protect their skin. Patients who have had the Halo laser treatment will notice that their faces will appear red and swollen. This typically lasts for the first two days and then begins to resolve. Around the same time that your swelling and redness resolves, your skin will begin to peel. The peeling usually lasts an additional 3-5 days.
Each day, you should shower and wash your face with warm water. Do not rub the skin, but blot with a towel to dry. Your team will suggest certain topical products or advise you to avoid putting topical products and creams on the skin until it fully heals. They will make recommendations for safe cleaners and moisturizers to use post-procedure.
Your skin will be sensitive, and sleeping on a pillow on your side may be uncomfortable. Instead, our team suggests that after your procedure, you sleep on your back, perhaps in a recliner or with propped pillows (to help reduce swelling). Resting with your head elevated for the first few days after your treatment is recommended. In the event of discomfort, we often advise taking certain over-the-counter medications to reduce swelling and discomfort.
